Job summary
Ambulance Response Services is a family-run ambulance provider based in Bedford, delivering non-emergency patient transport and other essential healthcare services across the region. We are looking for compassionate, reliable individuals to join our team as Ambulance Care Attendants.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to work directly with patients and make a genuine difference every day. As an Ambulance Care Attendant, you will support patients who may be elderly, unwell, or vulnerable, ensuring they are transported safely and treated with dignity, respect, and reassurance throughout their journey.
You will work as part of a professional crew, assisting patients from their homes, care settings, or hospitals, and supporting them during travel to appointments or on discharge. The role is hands-on, people-focused, and can be physically demanding, but it is also highly rewarding.
No previous healthcare experience is required as full training is provided. What matters most is a caring attitude, good communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centred care. In return, we offer stable shift work, development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a supportive team that takes pride in delivering safe, respectful, and high-quality care to every patient, every time.
Main duties of the job
As an Ambulance Care Attendant, you will support patients during non-emergency journeys, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and respected at all times. You will assist patients from their home or care setting, support them during travel, and hand them over appropriately at hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
The role involves working as part of a crew, communicating effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, and responding calmly to a range of patient needs. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of professionalism, patient dignity, and safety throughout each journey.
You will also contribute to keeping vehicles and equipment ready for use, follow infection control procedures, and complete required documentation accurately. The role requires flexibility, good time management, and the ability to adapt to changing situations during a shift.
This is a hands-on, patient-facing role that suits someone who is caring, reliable, and comfortable working in a healthcare environment where no two days are the same.
