We are seeking a full-time Health Care Assistant to join our team on a fixed term contract for 12 months working across the AWC Division. This is far more than a traditional support role you will be a vital member of the nursing and practice team, contributing directly to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care while supporting service efficiency and quality improvement.

Main duties of the job

This is a hands-on, patient-facing clinical support role working closely with the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team to promote health, prevent illness, and support the ongoing management of patients across the practice.

You will carry out a range of clinical tasks including patient health checks, observations, phlebotomy, urine testing, and ECG recording where trained, supporting both routine and long-term condition monitoring. The role also involves assisting with vaccination programmes, wound care, suture and staple removal where appropriate, and providing patients with health promotion advice to support self-care and wellbeing.

You will maintain accurate and timely clinical records, respond to patient queries, and work collaboratively across the practice to ensure smooth, safe, and effective care delivery. Flexibility, professionalism, and a compassionate approach are essential as you support both patients and colleagues in a fast-paced Primary Care environment.
