Job summary
Sulis Hospital is looking for a Senior Sonographer to join our busy, friendly imaging department. You will support the Radiology Lead and provide clear clinical leadership in accordance with professional and departmental protocols.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a team providing a high-quality ultrasound service at Sulis Hospital. To carry out agreed ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols. Maintaining a high standard of patient care and professional conduct and to assess and report own specialised workload, maintaining records as per departmental protocols.

Qualifications
Essential
- DCRR, or BSc Undergraduate Degree in Radiography, or equivalent.
- HCPC Registration
- PGDip in Ultrasound / CASE accredited Post- Graduate diploma / DMU in medical Ultrasound
- Evidence of CPD
- At least 2 years post- registration
- Experience in abdominal and pelvic scanning, including gynecology, all general US and small parts.
- Experience of NHS ultrasound services
- Use of Radiology Information System and PACS
- Wide range of clinical skills.
- To accurately interpret and report on ultrasound examination independently
- Relevant Organisational skills in a Radiology / Ultrasound Dept.
- Evidence of clinical governance work including audits and quality control.
- Adaptable IT Literacy
Desirable
- Evidence of post-graduate education eg, MSc
- Leadership qualities
- Teaching experience, demonstrating a strong desire to improve performance and make a difference by focusing on goals.
- Experience of staff performance and development programmes.
- Presentation skills
- DVT scanning
- Experience with setting up and maintenance of ultrasound insourcing companies.
- Experience of managing team members to include rosters, annual leave, 1-1s and APRs.
