Job summary
Shape lifechanging rehabilitation journeys.
As part of our interdisciplinary team, youll deliver specialist Physiotherapy for people recovering from stroke and other conditions in both hospital and community settings. Youll supervise junior staff, contribute to service improvement, and ensure every patient remains at the heart of their care.
Main duties of the job
- Leading the inpatient rehabilitation service and overseeing the daytoday running of the physiotherapy team.
- Taking professional and legal accountability for your practice while ensuring consistently highquality patient care.
- Supervising, training, mentoring and performancemanaging junior physiotherapists, assistants, technical instructors and students.
- Coordinating and delivering training to maintain staff competency in assessments and treatments.
- Offering highly specialist clinical advice and support to junior team members and students.
- Managing a complex clinical caseload, prioritising effectively to meet patient needs.
- Carrying out comprehensive assessments and developing specialist, individualised treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning.
- Applying advanced therapeutic handling techniques to assess and facilitate movement and functional improvement.
- Using evidencebased outcome measures to track progress and support goaloriented rehabilitation.
- Communicating highly complex and sensitive information clearly to patients, families and external partners, adapting for communication barriers.
- Leading case conferences and coordinating safe, effective discharge planning for patients with complex needs.
- Working collaboratively across the stroke pathway and multidisciplinary teams to support seamless transitions of care.
- Maintaining accurate, thorough clinical documentation and contributing to clinical governance, audits and service development.

What Were Looking For
Qualifications & Registration
- Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Postgraduate training and experience in neurological, stroke and elderly care rehabilitation.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.
- Confident computer user.
Clinical Experience
- Broad experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist.
- Experience within the NHS or NHScommissioned services.
- Strong background in stroke and elderly care rehabilitation.
- Skilled in outcome measures and evidencebased practice.
- Experience managing complex discharge planning and case management.
Leadership & Teaching
- Experience supervising junior staff and students.
- Able to deliver inservice training and lead education sessions.
- Motivates and supports others effectively.
Teamworking & Communication
- Effective contributor to a multidisciplinary team.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills.
- Flexible, adaptable and committed to collaborative working.
- Clear understanding of your professional role.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of national/local guidelines and service frameworks.
- Strong application of current best practice in rehabilitation.
- Confident in using clinical outcome measures.
Professional Responsibilities
- Willing to work across different areas of the Trust if needed.
- Committed to safeguarding adults, children and young people.
- Knowledge of local safeguarding policies and ability to act appropriately.
Desirable
- Neurological rehabilitation experience at Band 6 level.
- Demonstrated teamleadership experience.
- Postgraduate training in rehabilitation and/or neurology.
- A relevant teaching or clinical educator qualification.
