Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) to join our Warwickshire 019 service, taking a lead role in delivering high-quality, proactive care for children and families.

This role is central to improving outcomes for children, reducing health inequalities, and ensuring safeguarding across the community. You will work as part of a skill-mixed team, leading public health initiatives and delivering the Healthy Child Programme across your locality.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Visitor, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (Universal Partnership Plus) within your locality

  • Assess health needs and implement targeted, outcome-focused interventions for children and families

  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and outcomes of children on child protection plans

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to support vulnerable families

  • Promote health and wellbeing through early intervention, education, and signposting

  • Manage and co-ordinate a defined caseload, working both autonomously and within a wider team

  • Delegate and support skill mix teams to deliver effective care

  • Contribute to multi-agency assessments and act as Lead Professional where appropriate

  • Drive service improvement through leadership, innovation, and evidence-based practice

  • Support and develop colleagues, learners, and junior staff through supervision and training

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN Health Visiting) qualification

  • Current NMC registration (third part of the register)

  • Experience working within health visiting teams

  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience supporting vulnerable families

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team

  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills

  • Confidence working autonomously and managing a caseload

  • IT literacy and experience using electronic health records

Desirable:

  • Leadership or management qualification

  • Experience in service development or quality improvement

  • Experience working with commissioners or external partners

Additional Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
