Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Procurement team at HCRG Care Group as a result of continued organisational growth.We are seeking a highly capable and commercially drivenProcurement Category Manager - Indirect & Estatesto plan and manage indirect spend across both incumbent suppliers and new requirements. This includes leading tenders, conducting direct negotiations, and driving value through robust commercial strategy.
Your purpose will be to maximise opportunities through economies of scale, ensuring we source the right suppliers, goods, and services while maintaining uncompromised quality.With our organisation operating in a dynamic and evolving landscape, effective forward planning is essentialminimising reactive procurement and enabling strategic control.
The successful applicant will work closely with operational teams and the Head of Procurement.Our procurement function is midway through its maturity journey, having progressed from a reactive, transactional service to a more strategic and proactive function.While agility will always be required due to the nature of our services, there is significant opportunity to further enhance supplier management and forecasting.
Main duties of the job
What you'll do:
- Plan, manage, and strategically influence indirect procurement activity across the organisation
- Lead tenders, negotiations, and supplier engagements to optimise value
- Consolidate organisational requirements to maximise economies of scale
- Partner with operational teams and senior stakeholders to forecast spend and reduce reactive procurement
- Support the ongoing development of a proactive, strategic procurement function
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and commercial leverage
- Manage contract and commercial risks, including understanding works, milestone payments, and statementofwork structures
- Ensure procurement decisions are commercially robust, transparent, and aligned to organisational objectives
