Swindon Intermediate Care Centre
Full time - 37.5 Hours per week
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Occupational Therapist to join the Therapy Team in Swindon Intermediate Care Centre.
This post involves rotating between the Stroke and General Rehabilitation ward and General Rehabilitation Ward within Swindon Intermediate Care Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your stroke rehabilitation skills, including cognitive rehab, Upper limb and functional rehabilitation.You will be working within the stroke and fractured NOF pathway patients but also work with other general rehabilitation patients.
SWICC is a purpose built 60 bedded inpatient rehabilitation unit on the Great Western Hospital site with access to excellent facilities, including a therapy gym and therapy rehab kitchen.
You will be supported by a Band 6 and 7 Occupational therapists and work very closely with the Band 6 and 7 Physiotherapists.Feedback from staff is that the whole SWICC therapy team are a very supportive team and always willing to support and help each other, and this does sometimes require covering across services when required.We are keen to ensure the continued development of our staff and as such there are both internal and external opportunities for training and development
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities
- Take professional and legal responsibility for your own practice and manage your own caseload safely.
- Complete high quality Occupational Therapy assessments, develop treatment plans, deliver interventions, and adapt your approach as needed.
- Communicate clearly with patients and carers to gain consent, support decision making, and encourage engagement in treatment.
- Work effectively with colleagues across all professions and external agencies to support patient goals and safe, timely discharge.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all organisational and RCOT clinical guidelines.
- Keep accurate, comprehensive electronic patient records in line with professional standards.
- Hold a valid driving licence with business use insurance and use your vehicle to transport clinical equipment.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain your professional competence through ongoing CPD and keep an up to date development portfolio.
- Ensure your practice meets national and local standards of Occupational Therapy.
- Support and supervise rehabilitation support workers and occasionally Occupational Therapy students with senior oversight.
- Take part in the appraisal process and work towards agreed development goals.
- Keep up to date with evidence based practice relevant to your clinical area.
- Participate in audits, outcome measurement, and service improvement activities.
