Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate and experiencedBank Specialist School Nurseto oversee the healthcare provision for children and young people aged 219 with severe, profound, and multiple learning and physical difficulties.
In this rewarding role, you will offer expert training, guidance, and support to school staff, parents, and carersensuring the best possible care for every child.
You will also take a lead role in managing and supporting the school nurse and assistant practitioner within your team, helping to create a collaborative, nurturing environment where everyone can thrive
Base
This role is Term Time only and is based at Woodlands School in Leatherhead.
Main duties of the job
- Communication & Collaboration
Build strong, empathetic relationships with families, school staff, and professionals.
Share sensitive information with care and support inclusive communication methods like Makaton and PECs.
- Clinical Leadership & Care
Deliver and lead high-quality nursing care, including complex procedures.
Conduct holistic assessments, respond to emergencies, and guide families in managing health needs always upholding dignity and respect.
- Service Coordination
Organise nursing support to meet changing needs.
Step in for the Clinical Team Leader as needed and help shape services through team input and planning.
- Training & Development
Lead training for school staff, mentor student nurses, and foster professional growth within the team.
Support a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
- Governance & Quality
Contribute to audits, service reviews, and policy development.
Ensure care aligns with best practice, safeguarding guidance, and national standards.Resources & RecordsManage clinical resources and maintain clear, accurate records. Support the use of digital systems for safe, effective documentation.
- Autonomy & Accountability
Work independently while being part of a supportive team. Make sound clinical decisions and take pride in delivering safe, high-quality care.
