Job summary

Location:Various Primary & Secondary Schools across SurreyHours:1525 hours per week (between 9:00am 2:00pm)Contract:Temporary Bank Contract (up to 18 weeks, with potential extension)

Job Description:We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team delivering essential public health programmes in schools across Surrey.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the school-based Flu Immunisation Programme and the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).

Training for this role will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Support school-based flu immunisation sessions and conduct height/weight measurements for the NCMP.

  • Prepare, transport, maintain, and clean clinical equipment in line with IPC policies.

  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with children and young people, making reasonable adjustments as needed.

  • Liaise with a range of professionals and ensure all necessary documentation and materials are available.

  • Assist with session setup and cleanup, including proper disposal of waste and maintaining stock levels.

  • Perform administrative duties such as data entry, photocopying, filing, updating records, and checking attendance schedules.

  • Adhere to data protection, safeguarding policies, and equality and diversity standards.

  • Provide occasional support to distressed children and escalate concerns or incidents appropriately.

  • Manage time effectively to meet service demands and undertake additional duties as required.

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a friendly, approachable manner.

  • Enthusiastic and compassionate when working with children and young people.

  • Able to handle sensitive situations with patience, empathy, and professionalism.

  • Detail-oriented, punctual, and quality-focused.

  • Effective both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Organised with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing demands.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to use initiative.

  • Experience in maintaining professional relationships across various settings.

  • Competent in data entry and use of databases and Excel.

  • Aware of safeguarding responsibilities.
