Job summary
We are seeking a permanentBand 6 Speech & Language Therapist specializing in dysphagia and complex needsto join our Community Childrens Therapy Team in West Essex, covering Uttlesford, Harlow, and Epping Forest.
Youll be part of our innovative Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, developed in partnership with Barnardos, where we prioritize efficiency and put more time into meaningful interactions with children and families to improve health outcomes in the community.
Working in a multidisciplinary team, youll collaborate with supportive, friendly, and inclusive colleagues who provide regular supervision, training, and team meetings to ensure your success.
You will assess, diagnose, and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for infants, children, and young people aged 0-19 years. This includes working across community settings and local specialist educational provisions.
Main duties of the job
- Specialist Assessment & Intervention:
- Conduct thorough assessments for children and young people with dysphagia and complex needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans to support safe swallowing and effective communication.
- Collaborative Working:
- Partner with colleagues across the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, including the Community Nursing Team, Healthy Family Team, Paediatric Community Dietitian Service, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy Services, and Community Paediatricians.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as Health, Education, and Social Care professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Training & Support:
- Provide training and guidance to families, carers, and professionals on dysphagia management and therapy approaches.
- Offer clinical advice and consultation to multidisciplinary team members.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely records of assessments, care plans, and interventions.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies.
