AtChildren's Speech and Language Therapy in West Essex, youll be part of the award-winningEssex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, where were leading the way with an innovative, integrated partnership model in collaboration with Barnardos. Recognised nationally and presented to government and local authorities, our approach puts more time and people into frontline services improving outcomes for children and families across the community.

As aBand 6 Speech and Language Therapist, youll provide direct support to children and young people, their families, and other service users. Youll work closely with colleagues across our Pre-Birth to 19 Team and Specialist Childrens Services, including our pioneeringJADES pathwayfor autism assessment and early support. Youll also collaborate with partners in health, education, and social care to help children overcome communication barriers and achieve their full potential.

This is afull-time position based at our Tree House Family Hub location in Harlow.

Main duties of the job

  • Independently manage a delegated caseload of children across a range of settings, providing assessment, differential diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with parents, carers, and professionals to set goals, agree treatment plans, and review outcomes for children with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Communicate clinical findings and recommendations through detailed reports, including contributions to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and multiagency documentation.
  • Participate in multiagency meetings, including safeguarding case conferences, and ensure safeguarding concerns are reported in line with local policies.
  • Adapt clinical practice to meet the individual needs of children and families, considering cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Deliver training to colleagues, carers, and education professionals to support childrens communication needs across settings.
  • Work in partnership with the Pre-Birth to 19 service, Early Years settings, and schools to promote integrated and coordinated care.
  • Contribute to service development, support key performance targets, and participate in clinical audit and governance activities.

  • Holds a recognised degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy, with currentHCPC registrationandRCSLT membership.

  • Has a minimum of2 years post-qualification experience, withspecialist knowledgeof assessment and intervention for children with speech, language, and communication needs.

  • Demonstratesevidence of continued professional development, including relevant post-graduate training and participation in Clinical Excellence Networks.

  • Understandslocal and national policies, particularly those related to child protection, education, and childrens health services.

  • Confidently manages their own caseload and works effectively across arange of client groups and settings.

  • Brings experience indelivering and developing trainingfor carers and professionals.

  • Possesses strongcommunication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Adaptable and well-organised, with the ability toprioritise effectivelyand respond to changing needs in a fast-paced service.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
