Job summary
Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for delivering high-quality care to patients with complex health needs? Coventry and Warwickshire Sexual Health Service is seeking a Specialist HIV Pharmacist to lead and deliver HIV pharmacy services across our four hubs!
You will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including Consultants, Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Health Advisors, and administrative staff, to provide expert pharmaceutical care and support patients with HIV.
We are looking for an experienced HIV Pharmacist with at least three years of Band 7 experience who can confidently lead HIV Pharmacy provision, including prescribing, regimen switching, and conducting autonomous patient reviews. You will play a key role in optimising antiretroviral therapy, managing a caseload of patients with diverse and complex needs, and contributing to the redesign and modernisation of HIV services. This role also involves mentoring clinicians, supporting service development, and collaborating with healthcare stakeholders to enhance patient outcomes.

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver patient-centred pharmaceutical care for HIV and Sexual Health outpatients, ensuring timely and accurate medication supply.
- Monitor patients for adverse effects, provide medication counselling, and support adherence to treatment regimens.
- Use specialist HIV pharmaceutical knowledge to develop and evaluate the service in line with national standards.
- Make appropriate referrals and communicate patients pharmaceutical needs to other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct medication reviews, manage complex treatment regimens, and book follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with primary and secondary care partners to optimise treatment plans.
- Provide specialist advice on drug interactions, high-cost and unlicensed medications, and cost-effective treatment options.
