Job summary
This volunteer role will:
Assist in organising and facilitating support groups e.g. CAMHS Artful Beginnings; Creating Calm sessions or psychoeducational workshops for service users
HCRG Care GroupTargeted and System Support Services(TSSS) work in close partnership with Children and Young People (CYP), their parents / carers, education, and health colleagues to provide interventions and support to improve emotional wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.
TheTargeted and System Support Servicessupport the outcomes framework of the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service through the provision of targeted services which support the achievement of emotional health and healthy lifestyle outcomes.
They include: -
- Southend, Essex, and Thurrock Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (SET CAMHS) underpinned by the Thrive Framework.
- The Affinity Programme delivering a trauma informed approach and restorative coaching to prevent school exclusion.
- Healthy Schools: working with schools to develop health promotion and trauma informed environment.
- The Transforming Care Keyworker Service supporting CYP with learning difficulties or ASD who are at risk of hospital admission through poor mental health.
- Child & Family Healthy Lifestyles; including National Child Measurement Programme and intervention for overweight children.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Group Facilitator Volunteer to volunteer in the Chelmsford Area. Initially to attend the monthly session held on the 3rd Monday of the month 4-6pm plus set up and clear away time. Other opportunities to volunteer may follow.
CAMHS(Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) Group Treatment Assistants play a vital role in supporting mental health professionals in delivering group therapy and treatment programs to children and adolescents. As a volunteer in this role, you will contribute to the smooth running of the groups for young individuals experiencing various mental health challenges
- Assist in Group Sessions: Attend group therapy sessions and assist mental health professionals in creating a safe and supportive environment for participants.
- Participant Support:Provide emotional support and encouragement to group members during sessions, ensuring their comfort and participation.
- Set Up and Clean up: Assist in setting up the therapy space before sessions and tidying up afterward, ensuring a clean environment.
- Communication:Communicate effectively with group facilitators and the CAMHS team, reporting any concerns or notable changes in participants' behaviour.
- Professional Development: Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of mental health issues, group dynamics, and therapeutic techniques.
- Engage with Participants: Foster positive relationships with group members, providing a listening ear and a non-judgmental attitude
