Job summary

As a Driver/ Assistant Support Worker you will join a team that focuses on delivering a person-centred, specialist support to service users with significant complex health needs. The service delivers group and 1:1 activities focused around key areas such as independent living skills, social skills and support with sensory needs.

As a Driver/ Assistant Support Worker, the working hours are typically Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. You will have a dual role where part of your job will be to drive a minibus to support service users to travel to and from our service at the beginning and end of the day. Outside of any driving duties, you will help the day service as an assistant support worker. As an assistant support worker, you will help provide person-centred support, as described in the service users care plan, while the individual is at the day service.

Main duties of the job

Your days will be busy, rewarding, varied and task-orientated and include: transporting our service users to and from the Day Service at the start and end of the day, joining the variety of groups and activities with our service users to support them to get the most out of their day. You will be based primarily in Carrswood Day Service, Twerton, Bath, which is a modern, light building, purpose built to meet the needs of those who access our service.

You will have a "D1" on your driving licence for this role to enable you to drive our 16 seat minibuses.

Ideally you will have some experience in care or supporting adults with learning disabilities or additional needs generally. More importantly you will have a willingness to learn and support our individuals who access the service with all aspects of their care, including personal care.

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
