Job summary
Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional occupational
therapist, with a passion for working with people who have severe and enduring
mental health diagnoses, to manage the occupational therapy team and a small
clinical caseload. We require a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide professional support and leadership to our occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and activity workers who are based across our existing mental health inpatient services in Birmingham:
Montague Court is an 18-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham
Dartmouth House is a 16-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham
Orchard House is an 8-bed residential step-down recovery service based in Erdington, Birmingham; this allows extension of the long-term complex care pathway.
Stanford Court will be a 20-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate. This will consist of a 15-bed enhanced care service and, contained within the building but outside the main service, five self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment skills in preparation for discharge.

Job responsibilities
You will be
responsible for managing the performance of the occupational therapy team,
providing professional support and leadership. You will manage a small clinical
caseload comprising of service users from across the organisation, completing
assessments, intervention and evaluation of treatment. You will also assist the
occupational therapy team to plan and deliver a range of occupational therapy
assessments and interventions promoting recovery and well-being for our
service-users who are at our hospital sites. You will ensure the therapeutic
program, including group and individual sessions, is being delivered and
evaluated regularly to reflect the needs of the current service-user group.
The MOHOST is
established as the core occupational therapy assessment tool used across the
organisation, providing evidence of change and focus on occupation. Additional
assessments are completed as led by service-user need.
You will offer clinical
leadership within the multidisciplinary team and represent a senior professional
voice within the integrated care team. You will work with service-users
delivering person-centered care, working with individuals towards community
integration, balancing safety and therapeutic risk taking. You will promote recovery principles with the
aim of improving quality of life and achieving maximum independence with each
service user.
