Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptionalMental Health Nursewho ispassionate about working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses.

We are specifically seeking highly motivated nurses who have an interest in working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illnesses as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, to help promote their recovery, with a focus on supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. We are keen to meet nurses with a recovery focused ethos, who are willing to commit to building and sustaining good therapeutic relationships and positive engagement with patients.

Main duties of the job

Whilst under the supervision of deputy managers and the registered manager, the post holder will faciliate evidence-based nursing care, support, and advice to service users and their carers with mental health needs in a multidisciplinary setting while understanding and implementing the organisation's mission, vision, and values.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of others and in the promotion of issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice legislation.

The post holder will ensure effective communication pathways exist, and that they act within the sphere or responsibility, managing themselves, the team and the clinical area in the absence of the person in charge.

Job responsibilities

In the capacity of a Mental Health Nurse, your primary responsibility will be to provide person-centred care to individuals seeking support on their journey towards community integration. Our care pathway is consistently evolving, and as such, we utilise the most effective outcome measures and assessment tools available. Your role will involve providing quality, evidence-based nursing advice, support, and care to individuals with complex, severe, and enduring mental health needs, as well as their caregivers, in a multidisciplinary setting.

We provide additional training to our nurses to complete early warning signs and relapse prevention work with patients, as well as training in the assessment suite, which is used as part of the CPA reviews. The service also provides positive behaviour support training to help support those individuals who may present with behaviour that challenges their pathway to recovery.

To be successful in this role, you will need to establish therapeutic relationships with service users and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions within appropriate boundaries, as outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code. You will be responsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters and have a comprehensive understanding of local and national policies and legislation that govern service provision.

The successful candidate will work at Stanford Court, Highgate ,Birmingham. A brand new hospital for men. The hospital consists of 5 high dependency care beds, 14 rehabilitation beds and four self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment of daily living skills in preparation for discharge.
