Job summary

Options for Care are looking to recruit Deputy Managers across our new hospital unit, Stanford Court.

Stanford Court will be a 20-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. This will consist of a 15 bed enhanced care service and, contained within the building but outside the main service, five self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment skills in preparation for discharge.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic mental health nurse who are able to work as part of the management team to deliver our mission, vision and values. You must be willing and confident to supervise and develop colleagues allowing them to deliver the best clinical services possible.

Benefits:

  • Shift Enhancements include 20% nights and 40% weekends
  • In addition to an annual pay review, Options for Care benefits from an incremental pay pathway linked to the appraisal process. The first of these is awarded following successful completion of a six-month probation period

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will have at least two years post-registration experience. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and document accurately. You must be able to provide clinical leadership and assist the Registered Manager team in the overall management of the service. You must have knowledge of mental health recovery and assessment tools and be confident in supporting complex physical health needs and interventions. You will also be required to take part in the on-call duty management rota and you will receive remuneration for this.

The post-holder will be required to assist the manager in the provision of clinical leadership and management. They will be a clinical role model within a multidisciplinary team supervising and supporting provision of quality, person-centred care for service users with mental health needs and their carers. The post-holder must understand and implement the mission, vision and values of the organisation.

The post holder will:

- Ensure care delivery meets and addresses the issues of spirituality, equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.

- Act as a role model for others, and in a manner which positively reflects the values of the organisation and in a way which will ensure that effective communication pathways exist with internal and external stakeholders aimed at developing current models of care.

- Clinically lead the team, and liaise with external agencies, in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the service users and ensuring that all staff within the area have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.

  • Understanding of responsibilities under the Care programme.
