Job summary

As the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO), you will work in close collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure the highest standards of patient care and nursing practice. Your leadership will be crucial in overseeing clinical operations, driving quality improvement initiatives, and cultivating a culture of excellence and innovation within our nursing team.

Main duties of the job

  1. Clinical Leadership:Oversee daily clinical operations and ensure delivery of exceptional patient care.
  2. Quality Improvement:Lead initiatives to enhance patient outcomes through evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
  3. Strategic Planning:Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve organisational goals.
  4. Resource Management:Efficiently manage nursing resources to ensure optimal staff performance and patient care.
  5. Policy Development:Develop and enforce policies that uphold the hospitals standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration:Work collaboratively with various healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  7. Advocacy and Support:Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, supporting the professional growth and development of nursing staff.

  • Qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Educated to Degree level in a health-related subject or equivalent.
  • Educated to Masters degree level in a health-related subject or equivalent
  • Leadership/Management qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)

Experience

Essential

  • Significant relevant UK-based clinical experience at a senior level in a complex acute healthcare environment
  • Substantial experience in nursing management within a UK-based healthcare setting, with a track record of leadership roles beyond matron level, including positions at divisional management level or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing diverse teams to ensure excellent standards of service delivery.
  • Champion for excellent patient care and quality
  • Financial management, business, and service planning skills
