Main duties of the job

Are you able to problem solve, think outside the box and work alongside the senior nursing team to produce a workforce rota that supports the high quality care we provide for our in patient unit?

Job description

Job responsibilities

Create the monthly rotas liaising with the Senior Sisters, department Leaders and the People and Development Department to ensure compliance with Hospice guidelines and working time regulations.

Ensure the rotas are appropriately staffed. Publish the rota 6 weeks in advance, taking the lead role in filling all vacant shifts.

Construct rotas in order of priority as given by Senior Sister and department Leaders eg Annual leave, study leave, sick leave, requests.

Participate in any review and implementation of e-rostering system. Liaise with the People and Development Department to coordinate study leave for essential education and other mandatory training.

Gain approval for publication of rotas liaising with Senior Sisters and other department Leaders as appropriate Share rotas by the agreed method.

Retrospectively update changes to rotas for record keeping and audit purposes

Manage annual leave and lieu time requests and be the point of contact for daily rota queries from clinical and Leadership staff

Produce ad-hoc rota reports as required Complete the monthly return for the People and Development Department Maintain the bank staff rota

Ensure staff contact details are up to date.

Administer the text service Provide cover for other Rota Coordinators (if others are employed in different areas of the hospice) when they are on leave or not working.

Develop an in-depth knowledge of services to enable a smooth process when cross-covering.
