Registered Nurse - Oncology Nurse Specialist

We are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse with experience in Oncology Nursing to join our team within our Chemotherapy Day Unit and Gamma Knife Centre.

Nova Healthcare and the Leeds Gamma Knife Centre is a Private Day Unit and Clinic based within Leeds Cancer Centre, Bexley Wing at St Jamess University Hospital.

The dedicated Nova Team is a successful example of an Independent Sector Healthcare Provider, working in partnership with NHS Services.

We offer world-class, gold-standard treatment, for both Private and NHS patients who are undergoing diagnostic tests or are referred for Oncology, Gamma Knife, Radiotherapy and Haematological care and treatment.

As a small team, it is essential that we have a flexible approach to our service delivery.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who has experience in Oncology, with Phlebotomy / Venepuncture and Cannulation experience, and who is working towards or ideally qualified in administering Systemic Anti-Cancer treatments (SACT).

Main duties of the job

Working as a Registered Nurse and part of our multi-disiplinary team the main duties of this role are;

Working within our day case and clinic areas as part of our Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver and support clinical care and treatment to patients attending for Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Brachytherapy, Robot Assisted Surgery and Gamma Knife services.

Deliver chemotherapy to patients within agreed protocols and actively review patients during their treatment.

Support the Gamma Knife service as required to support patient teaching, preparation, treatment and follow up.

Contribute to the departments quality and safety aims and objectives, and overall clinical governance programme.

Support business and service objectives, providing excellence of care and service to patients and other service users.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, Principle Duties and areas of Responsibility

To support the delivery of clinical services to Nova Healthcare patients, in relation to Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Brachytherapy, Robot Assisted Surgery and Gamma Knife services as required and with appropriate training if necessary.

To support the Clinic Manager and Gamma Knife Manager, as authorized to do so.

Review the progress of patients before, during and after their treatment.

  • Assist in nurse-led radiotherapy review clinics, assessing patients before and during their treatment and managing their ongoing needs.

Deliver chemotherapy to patients within agreed protocols and actively review patients during their treatment.

  • Support the Gamma Knife service as required to support patient teaching, preparation, treatment and follow up.
  • To provide chaperone and support to our consultants and patients.
  • To ensure consulting rooms and clinical areas have all dedicated equipment, clinic lists and patient notes, ensuring all equipment trolleys and stationery supplies are adequate for the planned days activity
  • To ensure any investigations are carried out professionally and efficiently according to your own clinical limitations and in accordance with Nova healthcare procedures and policies.
  • To assist with maintaining a safe and clean working environment throughout each day, assisting in the cleaning of equipment and restocking of consumables.
  • To manage your patient allocation in a timely manner and within your own limitations
  • To be at all times adaptable, flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the unit.
  • To collect and input all data related to the billing for any treatments/investigations.
