Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 4 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor to join our established therapy team which consists of two physiotherapists, two technical instructors and three rehab assistants. This role is ideal for someone who has worked within a rehabilitation setting, has experience teaching appropriate exercise programmes and is committed to the principles of enablement to enhance quality of life.
You will be required to independently assess new residents, create problem lists, develop treatment plans and identify goals in collaboration with the resident as well as advise on manual handling risks. You will also work with qualified Physiotherapists, providing prescribed treatment.
The caseload is broad and varied, including:
Residents requiring rehabilitation post-hospital admission to return home
Long-term residents requiring ongoing physiotherapy intervention
Palliative residents requiring regular re-assessment as conditions change
Residents with learning disabilities to maximise physical potential
Delivery of chest physiotherapy to assist sputum clearance
Due to the nature of the job, there will be situations in which support is required with personal care.

Main duties of the job
Complete non-complex assessments for new residents under guidance, including baseline mobility and functional assessments, identifying rehabilitation goals and developing and implementing treatment plans
Provide clear guidance on residents mobility status and required assistance levels to care staff
Deliver individual and group rehabilitation programmes as prescribed
Supervise swimming sessions with residents - this does not require you to be able to be swim but you must be confident in the water
Monitor progress and report changes to the supervising Physiotherapist
Produce accurate documentation, risk assessments and risk management advice
Work collaboratively with the MDT, including nursing staff, GP, OT and other allied health professional as well as liaise with family members
Promote safe moving and handling practices across the home
About us
Fonthill House is a well-established, outstanding nursing home in St Albans, Hertfordshire, providing high-quality, person-centred care for residents with a range of complex needs. We work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to promote independence, safety, and quality of life for all residents.
We are a 64 bedded home which provides skilled care to a wide range of residents and has an in-house therapy team, delivering six days a week therapy provision.
It is important to note that Fonthill House is unable to provide sponsorship for this post therefore applicants will need to already have the right to work in the UK in order to be considered.
