Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology Nurse with a background in training and education to join the Oncology Practice Development Nurse team. This team drives excellence in training for current and new staff, and educates nurses through the Oncology Training Academy.

In this role, youll lead high-quality training, sourcing relevant development opportunities, and ensuring the ongoing competence of the Oncology Nursing workforce. Youll support nurses during patient visits and in Healthcare Centres, fostering excellence in care and practice.

Youll also stay updated on the latest advancements in Oncology, sharing these with the nursing team to keep them aligned with new developments.

Key duties include:

  • Leading oncology training across nursing services, ensuring assessment, planning, and evaluation of care needs.
  • Overseeing the recording and storage of training documents for accurate reporting.
  • Collaborating with nursing management on audits, training reviews, and tenders.
  • Sourcing and facilitating external training within budget.
  • Working with stakeholders to align care services with business growth.
  • Supporting Homecare Nurses in achieving required competencies.

Main duties of the job

  • To succeed in this role, you will need to be well-organised, as you will be managing your own workload and itinerary to meet deadlines. Strong communication skills are essential to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

    Other must-haves include:

    • A valid NMC PIN
    • Oncology experience and a SACT passport
    • A full UK driving license (as travel nationwide is required)
    • Experience in delivering coaching, mentoring, and facilitating clinical supervision is also highly desirable

      In this role, you will take a lead in delivering high-quality training and education, as well as sourcing relevant development opportunities for our nursing teams. A key focus is to ensure the ongoing competence of our Oncology Nursing workforce.       Key duties will include:

      • Taking accountability for the delivery of high-quality oncology training and education across nursing services, ensuring careful assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care needs.
      • Overseeing and monitoring the recording and storage of training documents to ensure accurate data reporting of training status across nursing services.
      • Collaborating with nursing management to complete audits, review training, and participate in tender processes.
      • Sourcing and facilitating external training and accreditation in line with budget requirements.
      • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure care services are aligned with business growth.
      • Supporting in-field shadowing and signing off Homecare Nurses in their required competencies.
