We are seeking an experienced full-time Associate Specialist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage and provide psychiatric care on Chamberlain Ward, our 12 bed female PICU service which accepts emergency and crisis admissions.You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist - while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.
Chamberlain Ward at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Quality Network and accepts emergency and crisis admissions. Referrals are accepted from all areas, including acute and prison services. Our aim is a short, rapid intervention to help service users regain a sense of control and order in their lives, so they can move to a less restrictive care setting and ultimately return home.
The service provides expert, intensive, short-term, individualised care for service users detained under the Mental Health Act. Individuals will present with increased risks that require them to be assessed and treated in a PICU environment.
Main duties of the job
- Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
- Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
- Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings
- Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals
- Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
- Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
- Audit medical services & ensure compliance with GMC & other professional guidelines
- Uphold policies & procedures and contribute to service governance & development
- Participate in the On call rota in line with the needs of the region
