We are looking for a confident Occupational Therapy Assistant with a passion for delivering outstanding care.

You'll be working part-time time making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Sedgley Cygnet Sedgley House and Cygnet Sedgley Lodge offer a 34 bed high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men with complex needs.

The service is designed to provide an environment that promotes mental health recovery by focusing on space, personal privacy and dignity.

Responsible for:Supporting Occupational Therapists to perform their role in the assessment, treatment and development of individuals in our care.

Responsible to:Head Occupational Therapist (Line manager).

Hours:40 hours per week

Summary of the site

Cygnet Sedgley House and Cygnet Sedgley Lodge offer a 34 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men with complex needs. The service is designed to provide an environment that promotes mental health recovery by focusing on space, personal privacy and dignity. You will need a willingnes s to learn new skills and the passion to work with patients with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

Experience working in a similar role would be preferable but not essential

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 160 OT support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Development & Induction:

Starting a new job can be daunting, which is why we have a robust induction process that enables you to shadow staff, discuss your learning and receive expert support to develop into your role. We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant development programme in your first 12 months to support and consolidate core skills. We also offer regular, virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants.
