Job summary

We are looking for an Social Therapist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. As a Social Therapist, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on an in-patient ward, with supervision, support and training you will deliver interventions defined within the personalised care plan, spend time engaging, connecting and supporting service users, families, carers and friends through their recovery pathway. You will help facilitate activities/groups and ward based projects and be actively involved in every aspect of their physical, psychological and social care of people who uses our service. You will be expected to work 38.5 hours a week (Days and night shifts) Sunrise Ward at Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a highly specialised eating disorder service for women, including those with extremely low BMIs. We focus on supporting individuals to attain a healthy BMI and prepare for a return to home.

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards. Our team works hard to create a cheerful, non-institutional environment, and to support individuals in their recovery and personal transformation. We make use of a range of therapies including psychodynamic, family, occupational, art, drama and complementary therapies. We also believe very strongly in patient-centred care, and involve our service users in shaping their own treatment, and in all aspects of hospital life.

About us

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism and learning disabilities within the UK.

Your day-to-day Assess service users for social therapy as part of a multidisciplinary needs assessment Plan & deliver social therapy observations & activities & determine their effectiveness Provide a variety of individual & group therapy work relating to social situations Monitor, evaluate & adapt ongoing clinical work according to each individuals needs Attend clinical meeti ngs & communicate with colleagues, agencies & families/carers Comply with the codes of practice.We are looking for someone who is... Qualified in Social Therapy Degree/Postgraduate Diploma/Masters or equivalent Registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) Experienced within a care environment, or with a passion for working in this setting A UK driving licence holder who can escort service users on visits & trips when required Preferably experienced in a multidisciplinary team & in an evidence-based framework.
