Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a Bank Chef with previous experience working in a catering/kitchen/hospitality environment who can cover flexible ad hoc shifts as and when required to cover for annual leave, sickness, training, etc. at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. Our current need is for bank staff to cover morning shifts (07:30am to 15:30pm) across a 7 day rota (Monday Sunday).

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards. Our team works hard to create a cheerful, non-institutional environment, and to support individuals in their recovery and personal transformation. We make use of a range of therapies including psychodynamic, family, occupational, art, drama and complementary therapies. We also believe very strongly in patient-centred care, and involve our service users in shaping their own treatment, and in all aspects of hospital life.

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism and learning disabilities within the UK.

Your day-to-day

  • Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals
  • Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences & needs
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients nutritional & dietary needs
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations
  • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
  • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
