Cygnet Social Care

Cygnet Social care is seeking to recruit a full-time, experienced, and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Cygnet Social Care in Scotland. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday and will involve travel between sites across Scotland.

Cygnet Social Care consists of seven sites based across Scotland. These services provide a specialist service for men and women with intellectual disability and/ or Autism. Our fantastic facilities and multi-disciplinary treatment programme are designed to assist individuals whilst living within community.

The focus is on nurturing an enabling environment to deliver a clinical model, developed specifically to meet the needs of service users within an operational framework, providing a high-quality environment for promoting a high quality of life and psychological well being.

Job Role

The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within social care services across Scotland by assisting the Regional Lead Psychologist in the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnets Social Care objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations.To thereby help understand, prevent, and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and well-being of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring, and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation, and supervised individual and group interventions. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported. We also offer an excellent Assistant Psychologist Development Programme to support our Assistant Psychologists continuing professional development.

Candidate Profile:

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated, and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk, and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all youll be someone with a genuine desire to help others.

We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable.Previous experience of working within mental health services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and/or group therapy sessions is desirable. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
