Job summary

We are seeking a Ward Support and Quality Coordinator to provide focused and individualized support across all four wards of the Hospital to help ensure high standards of patient care delivery.

Job responsibilities

Cygnet Hospital Maidstoneis our state-of-the-art, 63 bed mental health facility for adults situated in the Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone.

We are seeking a full timeWard Support and Quality Coordinatorto provide focused and individualised support across all four wards of the Hospital to help ensure high standards of patient care delivery.

The role will provide dedicated support to the wards to embed positive changes in line with CQC and MHA Code of Practice standards. The post holder will work closely with the General Manager, Quality and Safety Lead and Ward Managers to support with the wards quality and compliance actions, as well as leading on patients and ward staff wellbeing initiatives.

Youll be working 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday between 9am 5pm.

Interviews will be held on Friday 23rd Mayfrom 9am to 2pm

Youre day-to-day

  • Work closely with the ward staff to support with improvements from ward specific audits, quality reviews and CQC actions.
  • Under the supervision of the General Manager, be aware of the key quality priorities for each ward and develop effective strategies to embed improvement.
  • Undertake ward specific audits with the Ward Manager and General Manager, taking a lead on embedding required change within the ward
  • Lead on the completion of Patients cultural assessments and care plans, highlighting any individual needs and working with the Primary Nurse, General Manager and Quality and Safety lead to meet these.
  • Attending the monthly Peoples Council meeting and Ward Community Meetings to promote effective communication with those who use our service.
  • Under the guidance of the General Manager, maintain a weekly oversight and checklist for each ward and communicate effectively with other departments to raise and manage any issues found
  • Work closely with the Expert by Experience to complete Ward Quality and Culture checks
  • Attend the monthly Enterprise and Engagement meeting, being a valued member of the team who is actively involved in events and positive promotions in the hospital
  • Support with effective communication to the staff who work on the ward and Senior Management, focusing on meaningful well-being initiatives and supporting with these on the ward

Were looking for people who have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with and effectively communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience of administrative systems associated with audits and service improvements.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to deadlines.
  • Ability to form and maintain professional relationships with a range of individuals, both internal and external to the hospital.
  • Previous experience of implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of CQC, MHA Code of Practice, and Quality compliance.
  • Knowledge of Inpatient Mental Health services
  • Previous experience or a desire to want to improve patient care and support staff wellbeing in a healthcare setting.
