Your Role Service Line: CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service)

Summary of the site Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our state-of-the-art Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) hospital in Coventry.

The service supports young people aged between 12 and 18 with mental health needs in low secure, psychiatric intensive care and acute environments.The service aims to help young people stabilise and return home as soon as possible.

All young people can continue their education through access to our on-site Ofsted-registered school, Summit School, if required.

Main duties of the job

The services that are provided at the hospital are:

  • Dragon Ward a 10-bed CAMHS low secure service for young people.
  • Faun Ward an 8-bed CAMHS PICU service for girls aged between 12 and 18 with severe mental illness.
  • Mermaid Ward a 10-bed CAMHS PICU service for young people with severe mental illness.
  • Pixie Ward a 10-bed CAMHS acute service for young people.
Your role will be to lead and manage the occupational therapy team of a total of 4 Occupational Therapists and 3 assistants. You will also be an integral member of the senior management team within the hospital supporting and contributing to all quality improvement initiatives and service development.

You will have direct clinical responsibility for occupational therapy provision on Dragon ward, and ideally Sensory Integration experience. Within Cygnet, we provide clinical leadership for our occupational therapists in each of our service lines.

This post also offers the possibility of an additional paid role of Clinical Lead OT for CAMHS, supporting occupational therapists in their clinical development and quality improvement within all 3 of our CAMHS services within Cygnet.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence-based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice by participating in service model development and utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
