We are looking for a professional, confidentDeputy Ward Manager(RMN / RNLD)who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green.
Youll be working 37.5 hoursa week(Monday Friday) on Oakwood Ward and Upper Oakwoodwhich are bothAcute services for Women.
Oakwood Ward at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green is our 15 bed female mental health acute service. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.
Upper Oakwood at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green, is a small and supportive 6 bed mental health acute service for women. The aim of Upper Oakwood is to work with service users to plan for their discharge out of hospital. Upper Oakwood is now open and accepting referrals.
Cygnet Hospital Godden Green provides specialist acute and PICU services for women. The hospital is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Kent Weald, near Sevenoaks. Its location, in over an acre of its own grounds, helps the hospital provide a calm and therapeutic environment.
Your day-to-day
- In conjunction with the Clinical Manager and Ward Manager, provide support to clinical staff in the provision of safe, adequate (qualitative and quantitative) nursing cover to the clinical area
- Providing suggestions, proposals and recommendations to the Clinical Manager and Ward Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
- Maintaining a professional and high standard of patient care
- Ensuring updated and relevant clinical and administration policies and procedures and to ensure that these are accessible to all staff on the unit
- Acting up in the absence of the Ward Manager
- Assessing the training needs, organising, monitoring and evaluating the training of all staff
- Devise duty rotas to ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet the needs of the ward and that staff are appropriately qualified to carry out the duties required of them. Those duty rotas remain within budget whilst allocating annual leave and covering other absences as required
- Ensuring that the physical environment of the ward is maintained to comply with Health and Safety regulations and to ensure that Cygnet Health Care policy is complied with

You will have....
Essential
- A qualified RMN / RNLD with a valid NMC pin number
- Committed to delivering improvement strategies across all aspects of clinical service provision
- Familiar with in an inpatient setting
- Experienced in managing change, leadership initiatives, motivating & developing others
- Experiencedworking with service users with Acute mental health
- Open, compassionate, honest & resilient
- Capable of undertaking audits, developing, following-up & ensuring completion of action plans
- Well informed of the Mental Health Act 1983 & the latest nursing practices
- Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk
