Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team.

Service Line: Learning Disability Other (ASD Residential)

Summary of the sites

The post holder will work within our Scottish residential services across Dundee and will be supervised by our Regional Lead Occupational Therapist.

Band 5 Occupational Therapist

Salary: £29,500 (Increase to £32,205.50 following completion of preceptorship)

Hours: 40 Hours

For the role the post holder will have frequent clinical supervision from the Regional Lead Occupational therapist. Although experience in sensory integration is desired, formal recognised sensory integration training will be funded to support the skill development in this area for the successful candidate.

Thistle House (Broughty Ferry, Scotland): Thistle House is a specialist residential service supporting up to ten individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. The team of nurses and support workers also support those with behaviours that may challenge, as well as those who have associated mental health needs.

The dedicated activity coordinator supports residents to have individual activity plans, based on each persons likes and hobbies. Their goal is to enable residents to structure their time, build relationships and establish a balance between therapy, self-care, work and leisure.

Ellen Mhor (Dundee; Scotland): Ellen Mhor is a specialist residential service with nursing care, supporting up to 12 adults living with learning disabilities and complex needs, and who may have an autistic spectrum condition.

The team also supports individuals who have behaviours that may challenge and associated mental or physical health needs. We provide specialist nursing care and support that is tailored to individual needs, promoting independence and community integration.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 170 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
