Service Line: Neurorehabilitation

Summary of the site: Cygnet Brunel in Bristol offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service uses within our care.

Neuropsychiatric MDT consists of Psychiatry, Speciality Doctors, Psychology, Speech and language therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietician.

Case load, 16 patients, 32 bedded service.

Occupational Therapy Team consists of Head Occupational Therapist, Band 5 Occupational Therapist, 2.5 Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Main duties of the job

Within this role, you will lead the occupational therapy department and provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs for up to 16 patients affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), under the supervision of a senior OT. You will also have the support of an Occupational Therapy Assistant and/ Activity Coordinator, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each patient. At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.
