We have four wards at Beckton to provide three clinical service lines: Acute mental health care; Personality disorder services and Learning disability (High Dependency Complex Care)? Are you ready to further develop your clinical skills?

We want to recruit an exceptional OT to be part of a senior management team.

If you have a history of demonstrating clinical expertise & strong leadership skills, with a passion for developing others this could be an opportunity for you.

Within this role, you will lead the occupational therapy department and provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs on Hansa ward, under the supervision of a senior OT.

You will also have the support of an Occupational Therapy Assistant and/ Activity Coordinator, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each patient.

At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors.

We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction.

You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects.An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.

This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

Service Description:

Cygnet Hospital Beckton is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with inspectors praising staff for their safe, person-centred care. The hospital is a gender specific hospital for women with complex mental health needs.

Situated in the East End of London, the hospital has four different specialist wards including learning disability, personality disorder and an acute admissions service.

Hansa Ward at Cygnet Hospital Beckton is a 12-bed ward for women with a range of mental health diagnoses. Hansa Ward offers evidenced based care to promote social inclusion and independent living skills for individuals with complex needs.

The occupational therapy department has ** qualified OTs, ** OTAs and ** activity coordinators. Our environment is rehabilitation-focused and includes air-conditioned gym, two occupational therapy kitchens and telephone conference facilities and other therapeutic spaces. Hansa ward has received NAS accreditation.

Hansa Ward offers evidenced based care to promote social inclusion and independent living skills for individuals with complex needs, such as learning disability and a range of mental health diagnoses.

Overview of your role:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and provide direct clinical care which will encompass occupational therapy assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop an occupational therapy treatment programme according to service users diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.
