Main duties of the job

At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors.

We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team.

Your Role

Service Line:

Acute Mental Health, Rehabilitation and Personality Disorder.

Summary of the site:Cygnet Kewstoke in Weston-Super-Mare offers an extensive specialised treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service uses within our care.

  • MDT consists of Psychiatry, Speciality Doctors, Nursing team, Psychology, Music therapy, Art therapy, Drama therapy and Dietician.
  • Case load, up to 16 patients, 71 bedded service.
  • Cygnet Kewstoke has 5 service lines and provides emergency admissions services for men and women, a specialist service for personality disorder and a rehabilitation service.
  • Occupational Therapy Team consists of Head Occupational Therapist, Band 7,6 and 5 Occupational Therapist and 5 Occupational Therapy Assistants. We also work alongside the Active life team and activity coordinators.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:

We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some of your placement experiences. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.
