Cygnet Pindar House is a 22 bed Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation facility for men affected by acquired brain injuries. It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease, like Huntingtons Disease, a caring and long term placement to support and help manage the progression of their symptoms. This service is able to accept unplanned, often urgent admissions where a service user requires a safe place to start treatment at the earliest possible time.
Main duties of the job
At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors.
We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction.
You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.
This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

The hospital is a modern purpose built facility that has been designed specifically to provide a clinically led evidence based neuropsychiatric pathway for those individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge. Our focus is to create a therapeutic rich environment which engages our service users and offers them the opportunity to minimise their challenging behaviour and maximise their independence. We are able to accept men with complex physical health needs and have en-suite bedrooms located on the ground floor for men with mobility impairments. We provide a resource intensive in-house Neuropsychiatry interdisciplinary team dedicated to the 22 service users at Cygnet Pindar House. Our person centred approach puts the individual at the centre of their treatment and discharge planning. The service offers a wide range of activities and facilities to promote independent function. Positive behaviour goals are focused on discharge planning to support service users to return to community living either with support or independently.
Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 22 service users working alongside a Band 5 equivalent OT and with the support of 2 therapy co-ordinators. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.
Leadership: You would report directly to the Regional Lead Occupational Therapist within the Neuropsychiatric service line. You would also hold leadership and management responsibilities of the Occupational Therapy service of your allocated ward providing clinical and managerial supervision for therapy co-ordinators the Band 5 equivalent Occupational Therapist.

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
