Peer Support Worker

Job summary

We are looking for motivated and empathetic Peer Support Workersto join our addiction services team based at Schoen Clinic Chelsea. In this role, you will use your lived experience of recovery to support clients navigating substance and alcohol abuse, providing guidance, encouragement, and practical advice to enhance their recovery journey.

This role will be working 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday with no weekend work, and no on call requirements.

Main duties of the job

  • Offer one-to-one peer supportto clients within individual and group settings.

  • Share your lived experience to motivate and inspire recoverywhile maintaining professional boundaries.

  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and practical recovery plans.

  • Collaborate closely with therapists, clinicians, and the MDT to ensure holistic and coordinated care.

  • Contribute to the development of peer programsand participate in group facilitation where appropriate.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Work closely with the addiction specialists, and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates and contribute to care planning.

Support the implementation and development of peer support initiatives within the clinic.

Advocacy

Assist clients in accessing community resources and recovery-focused services.

Promote understanding of peer support and recovery pathways within the MDT.

Provide practical guidance to clients and families to support sustained recovery.

Education/staff development

Complete and keep up to date all mandatory training as deemed appropriate by Schoen Clinic.

Organisational

Actively support values of equality, diversity and inclusion within the staff team.

Read and comply with all relevant Schoen Clinic and statutory policies and procedures.

Report any untoward incidents in line with Schoen Clinic policy and procedures.

Report any safeguarding concerns in line with Schoen Clinic policy and procedures.

Contribute to Schoen Clinics Clinical Governance arrangements, health and safety standards and quality agenda.

Work with the Therapy Services Manager and Clinic Director, and therapy staff to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary change.

Communication

Keep adequate and timely patient records which comply with Schoen Clinic and national guidelines.

Maintain an up-to-date calendar of planned groups and appointments and manage your own caseload.

Ensure good communication with patients and families and remember our Duty of Candour.

Ensure good practice in terms of updating and informing all members of the MDT and appropriate others about current care plans and the psychological progress of the patients.
