Job summary

Schoen Clinic Chelsea is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Addiction Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is specifically for candidates with extensive, demonstrable experience in treating substance and alcohol abuse. The successful applicant will provide specialist assessment and evidence-based therapy for individuals and groups, contribute to the delivery of our addiction program, and play a key role in shaping best-practice treatment pathways within the clinic.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based individual and group therapyfor clients with substance and alcohol abuse.

  • Conduct specialist addiction assessments, develop and implement tailored treatment plans,and monitor client progress.

  • Actively participate in MDT meetings, providing expert input into care planning and program decisions.

  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and continuous improvementof the clinics addiction services.

  • Provide clinical consultation, mentorship, and supervision to junior clinicians or therapy assistants as required.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

Conduct comprehensive psychological and addiction-focused assessments with patients and participate in regular MDT meetings to review patient progress.

Assess risk and develop management plans specifically addressing the psychological components of addiction care and treatment.

Review patient history and develop individualized care plans, acting as a key worker for your caseload and for participants in the addiction programme and day groups.

Manage a caseload including 1:1 therapy, group sessions, key-working, and other clinical responsibilities as required.

Develop, deliver, and monitor the addiction treatment programme in collaboration with the MDT.

Maintain and enhance cultural competency, ensuring equality, diversity, and inclusion are considered in all aspects of practice.

Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions for addiction, in line with best practice and evidence-based approaches.

Professional

  • Maintain registration with your accreditation body (e.g. HCPC, BABCP) and act at all times within the regulations and recommendations of this professional body.

Participate in appraisal and management supervision

  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Remain up to date with current knowledge and practice.
  • Operate within boundaries of own professional competence and maintain professional boundaries.

Education/staff development

  • Assist in the planning and organisation of educational programmes for Schoen Clinic Chelsea staff.
  • Provide education on psychological interventions within addiction and substance use disorders.

Complete and keep up to date all mandatory training as deemed appropriate by Schoen Clinic.

Contribute to the Schoen Academy and the training of others outside of Schoen.

  • Masters Level Training in Psychotherapy or equivalent and appropriate training for accreditation in and qualification.
  • Registration with nationally recognised professional body e.g. BACP etc
  • Post qualification experience in a clinical mental health setting
  • Further training/qualifications in therapeutic models or approaches relevant for adults DBT, CBT, etc

  • Experience of working with addictions & both anxiety & mood disorders.
  • Ability to evaluate own practice and experience of using routine outcome measures in clinically meaningful ways.
  • Demonstrate an ability in delivering formal and informal training on addictions to the staff team and professionals from outside of Schoen when needed
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex concepts, formulations and sensitive information to patients, carers/families and professionals.
