Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate Assistant Psychologistto join our Neurodevelopmental Pathway team, supporting the assessment and care of children, young people, and adultswith neurodevelopmental conditions such asAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and related presentations.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a psychology graduate looking to build hands-on experience in a specialist clinical settingwithin a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists.

Working under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist,you will play a vital role in the smooth delivery of high-quality assessments and care. You will assist with clinical history-taking, preparation and scoring of standardised assessments, and coordination of client appointments, helping to ensure that every stage of the assessment process is delivered with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail.

This role offers excellent exposure to clinical practice, structured supervision, and opportunities for professional growth. It is ideally suited to those aspiring to pursue further training in clinical, counselling, or educational psychology.

This role is a part time position working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on site at Schoen Clinic Chelsea.

Client Support:

Provide empathetic, person-centred support to children, young people, and adults undergoing neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention.

Assist clients and families in navigating the assessment process, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and at ease throughout their journey.

Facilitate structured and supportive discussions with clients and parents/carers to gather developmental, psychosocial, and behavioural information.

Encourage engagement with treatment plans, coping strategies, and recommended follow-up support, reinforcing clinical guidance in a sensitive and supportive way.

Help ensure that the client experience is positive, respectful, and inclusive, reflecting the clinics high standards of care.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and administrators to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.

Assist clinicians in the preparation, scoring, and summarising of assessments (e.g. cognitive, behavioural, and developmental tests).

Maintain clear and accurate records, documentation, and data entry, ensuring compliance with clinic protocols and data protection standards.

Participate actively in team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice, contributing observations and supporting continuous service improvement.

Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in responding to the needs of the team and service users.

Advocacy

Promote a neurodiversity-affirming approach, ensuring that every clients strengths, differences, and individual experiences are respected and valued.

Support clients and families in understanding their assessments and care pathways, helping them access appropriate information and resources.

Act as an advocate for inclusive, evidence-based practice, helping to reduce stigma and improve awareness of neurodevelopmental conditions.

Contribute to the clinics mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality care by upholding ethical standards, safeguarding principles, and client dignity at all times.

Education/staff development

Complete and keep up to date all mandatory training as deemed appropriate by Schoen Clinic.

Organisational

Actively support values of equality, diversity and inclusion within the staff team.

Report any untoward incidents in line with Schoen Clinic policy and procedures.

Maintain an up-to-date calendar of planned groups and appointments and manage your own caseload.

Ensure good communication with patients and families and remember our Duty of Candour.

Ensure good practice in terms of updating and informing all members of the MDT and appropriate others about current care plans and the psychological progress of the patients.
