Job summary

Schoen Clinic York is looking for someone to join our dedicated team as an Interim HR Advisor on a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this role, youll work closely with our Hospital Director and wider HR team, delivering expert on-site support across a wide range of HR matters. Youll play a key part in ensuring our HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and effectively, whilst fully aligned with current employment legislation.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will include embedding company policies, managing induction and probation processes, overseeing compliance reporting, enhancing the use of our HR Information System (HRIS), and providing invaluable guidance to line managers on employee relations issues, always ensuring adherence to both internal guidelines and legal standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to our hospitals growth strategy. Youll empower our managers with practical HR knowledge and tools, enabling them to operate confidently and independently, while remaining supported by our central HR team beyond the conclusion of this contract.

This role will be based on site 5 days per week between usual weekday working hours (9am - 5:30pm).

Employee Relations

To advise, guide and support managers with all matters relating to employee relations concerns; in a timely manner and in line with policies and procedures.

Attendance at relevant ER meetings where appropriate.

Effective case management of people related issues such as: disciplinary, performance management, grievance and absence management whilst utilising the ER Tracker.

Monitoring trends in employment practices and advising on appropriate proactive action.

Reporting on employee relation activity with supporting narrative at both site and Executive Board level.

Escalating complex employee relation cases (including potential cases for suspension) to the UK HR Director for where appropriate.

Support management Occupational Health referrals.

Recruitment & Retention

Working collaboratively with the Recruitment Business Partner on recruitment & selection processes.

Analyse and escalate relevant responses from all new starter and farewell feedback surveys.

Management and support of all probation periods across the group.

Reporting

Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reports at the request of the UK HR Director & Hospital Director.

Run all relevant reports from the LMS system when required.

Support with the development and reporting on monthly KPIs with the HR Dashboard.

Conduct HR Audits with key measurables to identify risk and implement change and/or improvement.

  • Youre an experienced HR professional with a solid background in the healthcare sector. Youre confident managing employee relations cases from start to finish and have a strong grasp of HR metrics and KPI reporting.
  • Youre comfortable working autonomously, have a sharp eye for detail, and arent afraid to challenge the status quo to influence key decisions. Youre also well-versed in Microsoft Windows, HR systems, and understand the importance of data protection, GDPR, and confidentiality standards.
  • Familiarity with PeopleHR or similar HR systems will give you a head start, as will any training in mediation or conflict resolution. Your ability to navigate complex situations with empathy and clarity will make you a trusted partner to managers and colleagues alike.
