As a Dietetic Assistant you will be required to work alongside and under the direction of a registered dietitian. You will beinvolved in practical aspects of implementing and monitoring nutritional recommendations made by the dietitian,support with food ordering and service at meal and snack time and to undertake routine administrative and clerical duties as required by the dietitian.
Main duties of the job
You will be providing support at meal times for patients, this will include eating alongside patients and carryingout weekly or twice weekly weights and record these on weight charts.Further duties will include (but not limited to):
- Monitor dietary intake and behaviours in the dining room, providing feedback to the Dietitian
- Be involved in providing portion guidance to staff, patients and carers
- Update nutritional supplement replacement plans following dietetic advice
- Support patients with leave planning
- Support patients in making appropriate menu choices
- Liaise with the catering department regarding any day to day issues
- Arrange weekly food and menu ordering
- Attend MDTs on behalf of the Dietitian and liaise with the Dietitian regarding any progress and monitoring
- Liaise with the nursing colleagues and other health care professionals as required regarding nutritional needs and progress
- To work on own initiative whilst recognising barriers and seeking support when required
- To review treatment plans and patient progress independently and in liaison with the Dietitian
- Discuss with patients their dislikes and menu choices, being able to challenge these choices as required
- Support Dietitian in holding Nutritional educational groups and additional groups as required
- Communicate with community teams and referring agents as required
- Support dietitian with documentation on CPA reports
- Work collaboratively with members of the MDT and Nursing team

Schoen Clinic York is a highly specialised Hospital for adults in the North of England. We are currently based on the ground floor of Minster Grange, and in July 2024 will be expanding to cover the full building with other service lines including Dementia care. We are situated just off Haxby Road which is 10 minutes drive from York Train Station and 4 miles from the A64.
