Job summary

This position will be working across our outpatient services, working with CAMHS and adults experiencing eating disorders. The Occupational Therapist will also be expected to work with the adult anxiety and mood pathway and be flexible in terms of their engagement with different service pathways as the Clinic grows and develops. This will include coaching work with adults with a diagnosis of ADHD and with parents of children affected by ADHD in a supportive role. The post will manage a defined caseload using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions at Schoen Clinic Chelsea. They will work across all outpatient services with the main focus being working with those patients with eating disorders and their families.

Main duties of the job

Schoen Clinic Chelsea is a Mental Health Clinic supporting young people and adults through challenges with eating disorders, anxiety and mood and support with working with the families.

We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced part time (22.5 hours per week) Occupational Therapist who wants to join a growing, dynamic and welcoming multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will have specialist knowledge and experience in working with children and young people with both CAMHS and adults experiencing Eating Disorders, with the opportunity to work with both pathways including anxiety and mood. This is an exciting time for the clinic as we build our provision for both CAMHS, adults and their families to support all those at times when this is so greatly needed.

The post will manage a defined caseload using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions at Schoen Clinic Chelsea. They will work across all outpatient services with the main focus being working with those patients with eating disorders and their families.

Key Accountabilities

Clinical accountabilities:

Undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the patient in all areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.

Work with patients to identify occupational therapy goals as part of the overall care plan.

Plan and implement individual and group interventions, in collaboration with the patient, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.

Monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.

Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and Schoen Clinic policy.

Comply with the College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, Health and Care Professions Council and national and Schoen Clinic procedures.

Plan, organise and be accountable for the management of a designated caseload.

Apply acquired skills and knowledge of professional practice in order to develop fitness to practice as an occupational therapist.

Establish effective communication networks with users and carers, team members and other agencies.

Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to decisions with regard to patient care programmes, completing, reviewing and following patient care plans.

Understand and work within the variable nature of the job and respond in a professional manner.

Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients.

Work in any environment necessary to meet the patients needs. This will include Schoen Clinic Chelsea and community environments.

Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Participate in the induction, training and education of students and other staff in the setting as directed.
