Main duties of the job
We believe in giving patients the best advice and choices to help improve their lives and providing the highest standards of care when they come to us . It is essential for the Contract Management Function to be at the forefront of the business ensuring long term, effective relationships are developed and maintained with NHS Commissioners and Trusts, Local Authorities, NHS England, other providers, and other relevant stakeholders within the Public and Private Sector.
The Contract Manager will be responsible for the development and management of key commissioning and contracting business across the private and public sectors, with a view to encouraging business and increasing the knowledge and understanding of the current and future potential of Psychiatry-UK in the market for psychiatry services.
The Contract Manager will oversee the lifecycle of contracts ensuring:
- all aspects of effective management of contracts
- compliance with relevant regulations
- recording, reporting and sharing learning to inform business improvements
- advising and informing in relation to non-contract activity, particularly under Right To Choose
The role will be home based but could be required to attend various meeting locations as and when required. The role will also adhere to the flexitime principles for PUK.

- Experience managing bids, tenders, and contracts within the healthcare sector, with an ability to apply this to NHS funded private provision.
- Evidence and examples of contract management with an ability to see from the perspective of commissioners and providers of services demonstrating a track record of delivery in a relevant field.
- Experience with online contract management and/or procurement systems.
Desirable
- An understanding of the changes in commissioning landscape and the political nature of the wider NHS and Social Care system.
- Proven experience of working in partnership, using the contract to successfully improve services.
- Experience using Sharepoint.
