Primary Integrated Community Services are supporting Bassetlaw Hospice with the recruitment for the following vacancy.

Role Purpose

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, participate in the development and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care through involvement in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Role Context

This role requires an individual who can work effectively under the supervision and leadership of registered nurses, supporting people with palliative and end-of-life care needs. The post holder will provide safe, person-centred care to patients within the inpatient unit at Bassetlaw Hospice, ensuring dignity, respect, and comfort at all times.

Main duties of the job

Assist with all activities of daily living, addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients.

Undertake, record and report clinical observations as directed by registered staff.

Support treatment and activities for patients within the inpatient environment.

Promote maximum independence and dignity for patients.

To help them achieve reasonable and achievable goals

Maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records, both written and electronic.

Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

Bassetlaw Hospice offers palliative care for people aged 18 and over with cancer and other progressive, life-limiting conditions aiming to enhance quality of life for patients and their families. Located in Redford, the hospice provides integrated care through a support and well-being centre, day services, and an impatient unit, all supported by dedicated team on the local charity. Services include symptom management, holistic and complementary therapies, psychological support, and activities like crafts and gardening, alongside home care and bereavement support.

All staff are responsible for ensuring that risks of harm to children and vulnerable adults are minimised. Concerns must be addressed in line with hospice safeguarding policies and local multi-agency procedures.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

This role requires an enhanced DBS check at the point of recruitment and periodically thereafter.

Infection Prevention and Control

All employees must follow hospice infection prevention and control procedures and undertake mandatory training.

Staff must demonstrate understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in line with hospice policy and legislation.

Data Quality

Accurate and timely record-keeping is essential for safe care delivery and effective decision-making.

Frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort and exposure to distressing circumstances due to nature of end-of-life care.

Good observation skills, able to recognise changes in patient condition.

Basic IT and record-keeping skills.

Flexible and adaptable.

Ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.

To work across all areas of the hospice to meet service need.

Must have a VISA/right to work in the UK.

Must be able to attend a Face-to-Face interview
