ABOUT THE ROLE

The Pharmacy Clinical Lead serves as a principal resource for clinical pharmacy services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The purpose of this role is to provide clinical leadership and expertise to our team of Senior Clinical Pharmacists within Nottinghamshire PCNs. The post-holder will lead and develop the Senior Clinical Pharmacist team across the PCNs, provide leadership, clinical governance and assurance.

This is a part time role offering 7- 15hours (1-2 days) per week.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Were looking for an experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacist with a proven track record in leadership. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and collaborator, confident in supporting and managing clinical teams. They will be comfortable working across the PCN network, using their judgement to balance in-person visits with virtual meetings to manage time efficiently and maintain strong professional relationships.

Main duties of the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight of Clinical Governance and assurance
  • Oversight of PCN Dashboard Reports to Medical Director
  • Oversight of Clinical Governance issues attend monthly PICS CG meeting.
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice on Pharmacist team development, support and future direction.
  • Oversee investigations into incidents involving the wider clinical pharmacy team, ensuring datix is updated accordingly.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with Clinical Directors and other stakeholders within the PCN and PICS network

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • MPharm Qualification
  • GPhC Registered
  • Independent Prescriber
  • CPPE Trained
  • People and/or team management experience
  • Experience of senior level decision making and delivery in a changing environment

Job responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight of Clinical Governance and assurance

  • Oversee investigations into incidents involving clinical pharmacists/technicians and ensure datix is updated accordingly
  • Investigate any complaints against clinical pharmacists and update Datix accordingly, including response letters to patients

  • Attend and lead Monthly / bimonthly meetings face to face
  • Conduct annual appraisals for SCPs
  • Provide leadership on annual Clinical notes audits, non-medical prescribing audits and other appropriate audits including those related to drug safety alerts
  • Liaise with CG lead on NMP audits
  • Provide 121 meetings and support as agreed with SCP team Provide leadership and direction for CP/Pharmacy Tech team meetings Provide 121 Engagement with PCN CDs every 3-6 months as appropriate
  • Provide clinical supervision to Senior Pharmacists
  • Have an oversight of mandatory training compliance and take appropriate action where compliance is not achieved.
  • Have oversight of any coroners requests or negligence claims pertaining to clinical pharmacists and ensure PICS process is followed
  • Reporting any data breaches or IG concerns through Datix within 24 hours of learning about them
  • Disseminate NICE guidance updates and clinical governance updates
  • Provide advice and guidance to SCPs and HR team as appropriate on professional conduct and responsibilities of pharmacy team
  • Attend monthly clinical leads meetings with Medical Director
  • Organise and provide leadership as appropriate a 6 monthly networking meeting/event for CPs and Technicians
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice on Pharmacist team development, support and future direction.
  • Work proactively alongside the Clinical Pharmacy Programme Manager.
  • Attend where appropriate ICB meetings relating to Clinical Pharmacist activities and develop CP networks as appropriate.
