Main duties of the job
The Role
The Advanced Ambulance Care Assistant (AACA) will play an important role in helping people receive the care they need in HDU. Main responsibilities will be toprovide a variety of transport to patients classified as having Bariatric and/or special requirementsbetween healthcare facilities. This is vital for you to hold a full UK driving licence and to have a good degree of physical fitness.
2 week paid training is required before you begin the post where you will cover topics such as manual handling, risk assessment, customer services,advanced driving and first aid

Job responsibilities
To have a First Response Emergency Care Level 3 certificate
To provide a high level of quality care to patients requiring a High Dependency Transfer between Health Care facilities.
To provide a variety of transport to patients classified as having Bariatric and/or special requirements.
Undertake daily vehicle checks, check and restock equipment and consumables maintaining a state of readiness for all categories of transport requirements.
Ensure that the needs of all patients and relatives are met without delay acting at all times in a courteous and sympathetic manner
Operate interchangeably as either driver or attendant in a single person or 2- person ambulance crew and act and promote teamwork to ensure high standards of service delivery.
Assist, move and handle patients, who may be ambulatory or wheelchair bound, using appropriate equipment
Minimise and deal with aggressive and abusive behaviour to reduce risks to safety and ensure patient welfare
Ensure the use of appropriate equipment and approved manual handling techniques
Maintain the cleanliness and ensure the routine daily checks of designated vehicles are carried out prior to deployment
Liaise and report to Control as directed within operational procedures in updating location and status and respond appropriately to instructions
