Job summary

Symphony Healthcare Services (SHS) are looking to appoint an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) for two of their Yeovil GP practices - Ryalls Park Medical Centre and Oaklands Surgery.

We have 30 permanent hours per week to offer, to be worked over 5 days. Working hours will be discussed at interview stage.

The hourly rate of pay is £12.25 per hour, with the option to join the NHS pension and many other SHS employee benefits (see attached poster).

You will have experience of working in primary care and be competent in healthcare duties. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to organise their own time and workload effectively and a real and genuine passion for patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a SHS HCA, you will work under the direct supervision of the Lead / Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols,

You also will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

  • New patient health checks - BMI, Urinalysis
  • ECG recording
  • INR monitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star
  • To undertake Doppler testing
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring following practice hypertension guidelines, issue HBPM in accordance with practice policy
  • Phlebotomy including perform annual blood tests, BP, BMI, ACR as requested for patients with chronic diseases
  • Urinalysis MSU, ACR in accordance with practice policy
  • Wound Care suture removal in accordance with practice policy, following training
  • Weight Management
