Job summary

Symphony Healthcare Services is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and pro-active Administrator to join their team at Martock and South Petherton Surgeries.

This would be a perfect position for someone wanting to join the NHS or building on previous healthcare experience and skills in a fast paced environment.

The role of Administrator involves varied responsibilities, such as support reception duties for the practice, alongside dealing with patients, clinical staff and colleagues in an efficient and polite manner.

You will also welcome, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional and undertake and supervise a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practices, in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and timescales.

In addition, you will support the training and supervision of staff as appropriate and take the lead in improving administration processes and procedures, to ensure the smooth operation of the health centre.

The available hours are 33.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Hours and working patterns will be discussed at interview but there will be a requirement to cover both a 08:00 start time and 18:30 finish time, as part of the role. Please considert this befoire aplpyinh.

The starting rate of pay is £12.00 per hour, increasing to £12.50 once a successful 6-month probation period has been completed.

Main duties of the job

This role requires courteous, calm and effective communication skills both over the phone and face-to-face, in fast-paced health care settings.

You will provide administration and reception duties for the the health centre, which will include assisting and directing patients in accessing the appropriate services or healthcare professional and undertake a variety of administrative duties, in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and timescales.

You will need to be able to work accurately and prioritise your own workload effectively while working as part of a team, while also meeting competing deadlines.

You will also be confident to proactively alert management / clinical staff to issues of quality, risk and safeguarding, as part of your daily role.

You will have sound IT skills and experience of using packages such as MS Office (Outlook, Word etc.).

Knowledge of the NHS / General Practice would be desirable, but not essential.
