Job summary

Symphony Healthcare Services have an exciting opportunity to appoint another Medicines Management / Pharmacy technician to the West Somerset Primary Care Network (PCN) to work alongside our expanded team of 3 Clinical Pharmacists and 3 existing pharmacy technicians.

You will provide support to the surgeries across the PCN (Minehead Medical Centre, Dunster & Porlock Surgeries, West Somerset Healthcare in Williton & Exmoor Medical Centre in Dulverton)

The Practices Pharmacy Technician is an integral part of the clinical team, using and sharing pharmacy technician expertise to support the GPs, Pharmacists and the whole practice in effective medicines management and optimal patient care.

We welcome applications for both full or part-time employment as we have 24 to 37.5 hours available. Please state your preference within your application.

The rate of pay for this is between £13.75 to £16.90 per hour, and your starting salary will be based on previous experience.

Main duties of the job

The role will include supporting medicines reconciliation to improve continuity of care, enhancing medicines management within our care homes as well as undertaking audits and patient safety projects.

You will be well supported by the SHS team of pharmacists and technicians as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team.

You will integrate into practice teams but also have the support of the PCN team, working alongside our existing pharmacy, social prescribing (Health Coaching and Village Agents) and Living Better complex care teams, including care coordinators, a complex care GP, Nursing team, Occupational Therapist, Trainee ACP, physiotherapists, Children and Young Persons team and community HCA.

We also focus on population health and are increasing the use of data and artificial intelligence tool to risk stratify and proactively identify patients who would benefit from an intervention.

There will be a requirement to participate in the national CPPE pharmacy technician in General Practice training pathway.

  • NVQ level 3 with BTech in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
