Head
of Technical Services
Location: All KCH sites including Renal Satellite
sites
Grade: KFM Senior Management C (SMC)
KFM are looking for
an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced individual to join our team and
lead the delivery of our Technical Services teams across Kings College
Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCH).
Our Technical Services teams are
highly respected by our customer, and we deliver Technical Services to the
following Care Groups: Adult Critical Care, Dental, Endoscopy (including
Decontamination), Paediatric Critical Care, Theatres, Renal Dialysis. In
addition we provide the Bed and Equipment Service across KCH.
Using your skills
and knowledge, alongside your relevant professional experience and
qualifications, you will be responsible for operationally and strategically
leading the Technical Services areas.
You will also be part of our wider management team working togetherto support the business to develop
high quality, patient and customer focussed, services which represent value for
money. We thrive on supporting our people to innovate, continuously improve and
develop and are looking for a leader with the same passion who will champion
this approach across a significant and diverse group of colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will be from a healthcare
background, with significant operational experience in a senior role and will
have experience in managing a range of services with a proven track record of
delivering these at pace and to a high quality.
Our Managed Services team pride themselves on taking a special interest
in staff growth and development and you will be supportive of this.
We are looking to
offer this role as a permanent role, based from our main
site at Denmark Hill with flexible / hybrid working offered. There will be some requirement to work from,
and attend, other sites where we deliver services from.
The working hours for this role are ordinarily Monday to Friday, 9am to
5pm, it should be noted that this role will be responsible for a number of
services with extended operating hours, including some 7 day services.

The Head of Technical Services is responsible for the leadership and development of the technical workforce providing strategic and operational leadership to the technical services.
The role requires the post-holder to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible standard, provide value for money and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and stakeholders' expectations.
Key Accountabilities
Effective operational, budgetary and strategic leadership of the Technical workforce.
Collaborative approach across KFM to meet the needs of the customer.
Strong stakeholder management across the technical services areas.
Technical Services meet the required quality and patient safety standards and performance and financial targets
Continuous Improvement approach to improving service delivery
Skills:
Ability to work constructively with internal and external partners in a changing environment
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to gain the confidence of internal and external stakeholders
Able to demonstrate effective negotiation skills to work with and through others
Strategic thinking with ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
Takes decisions on difficult and contentious issues
Experience of delivering a successful change programme
Proven track record in the provision of high quality, customer-focused service delivery
Able to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create conditions for successful partnership working
IT literate and working knowledge of Microsoft applications
Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team to deliver projects
Highly developed planning and organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment
Qualifications:
Educated to Masters degree level, or equivalent experience, in a relevant technical field or healthcare management / leadership Management qualification, professional training or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience Evidence of continual learning
