Job summary
We are seeking a Senior Technologist who is able to provide visible operational leadership to the management of renal technical operations and promote continual improvement, quality and performance of
the service.
Lead and execute the training and development plan and ensure that each
team member receive appropriate education and training opportunities which
supports the service and the strategic aims of KFM.
Implement and monitor improvement plans ensuring team is mentally and
emotionally on-board towards adoption of new processes.
Monitor outcomes and compile reports and escalate issues when required.
Lead the establishment of accountability structures ensuring responsibility is
delegated appropriately so that decisions are taken as close to service
provisions as possible.
Lead, manage and motivate staff to deliver and improve services to the Trust
and patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for overall compliance of medical devices including PPM plans and reporting of compliance data
All day to day (BAU) customer service requests are dealt with in line
with the agreed SLA for the service
Any escalations or arising issues related to the service are dealt with
and resolved promptly.
Inventory and products, relevant to the service are available at the
right time and place and a buffer of stock and spare parts are held as
appropriate / agreed.
Monitor robotic process automation for inventory ordering and engage with
RPA team regularly for its maintenance.
All members of the technical department at grades lower than your
own adhere to all department and Trust procedures, e.g. sickness absence
and behaviour standards.
Manage subcontractors effectively and monitor performance.
Encourage good moral and discipline by the implementation of KFM human
resources procedures and policies, i.e. appraising staff and developing an
agreed Personal Development Program with them.
Safe operation of all motor vehicles used within the Technical
Department.
Recruitment of Renal Technologists in accordance with KFM recruitment &
selection policy.
Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary managerial team, providing
advice and guidance on all matters where there is a technical component.
Identify technology for the enhancement of patient care and cost effective
treatment.
Identify and predict shortfalls in current resources.

Job responsibilities
We are seeking a post holder who will be responsible to provide operational leadership to renaltechnical team. The role will involve managing multidisciplinary team of varying experience levels and will be required to lead and implement the learning development plan.
This may include teaching and mentoring team members directly as well as technical compliance of all medical device within care group as per MHRA directives and guidelines. This will involve monitoring asset register as per directives.
You will be responsible for monitoring quality standards as per Renal Association Guidelines. To ensure that appropriate processes are in place and followed all the time.
KFM is a growing organisation and environment is supportive to ambitious individuals, therefore, be required to implement lean projects and participate in future initiatives.
This will involve managing expectations throughout change betweentechnical and management teams.
The post holder will also be responsible for managing, developing and leading the relationship with Kings College Hospital NHSFT and external / third party suppliers to ensure that the contractual requirements of the service are met by KFM.
Skills:
Possess a full UK (Manual) driving licence
Able to use Excel, Word etc. to set up documents and spread sheets and extract information, experience of using equipment management database or similar.
Able to use fine tools for equipment adjustment/assembly.Able to handle medium loads within safe limits.
Able to concentrate for long periods to allow accurate working
Able to deal with emotionally challenging circumstances when working in clinical areas (e.g. when visiting wards and homes fault finding on patient connected equipment).
Able to train groups of professional staff & patients in the use of medical equipment
Able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations
Able to motivate colleagues and act with confident authority when the situation requires.
Qualifications:
Degree in Electronics/Electrical/Biomedical Engineering or related subject or equivalent experience. Formal education in renal technology, preferably at degree level. Formal IT training in Microsoft Office programs. Registered as Clinical Technologist on RCT (IPEM) Prince2 or equivalent project management experience with understating of lean methodologies.
